Maria Tengku Sabri can eat my fork

Wow, banyak nye laa time aku nak mengapdet blog ye? But when it happens to going over my notes, seems like time actually flies.

21 more days.

21 more days of lovely food, home comfort, fab friends, and superb food (mentioning ‘food’ twice is absolutely necessary! :D)

And since reading about sigmoidscopy and barium enema bores me, let’s talk about the next best thing after anti-cellulite cream: FOOD! You know, of course it’s our mother’s embrace that we look forward to upon touching home ground, but… You get my drift, don’t you?

The things/food I highly anticipate this coming summer:

1) Durian Langat. Hoho AmaL, ko simpan biji je untuk aku, siap laa. At least simpan biar satu bakul. Huahua.

2) Tapai and nira Kuala Nerang. Why Kuala Nerang? Aku pon tak tau. Maybe cause the pakcik rocked cause dia bagi extra gula?

3) Char Kueh Tiaw. Tak yah la elaborate panjang2. Satu Mesia I understand have cravings for this particular dish.

4) Kerang rebus cicah sos cili. Dayyum. *Mental images*. Double dayyum. Haih.

5) Murtabak daging Pasar Malam Taman Sri Murni. Kellesss, ok?

6) Manok pansuh + umai + mee kolok.
Sarawakian delicacies for dummies:
Manok pansuh: Ibanese dish, pieces of chicken cooked in bamboo layered with tapioca(ye ke tapioca? Aku main bedal je :D) leaves.
Umai: susah nak eksplen. Like always, my eating habits include everything halal minus stick and stones je. But I’m pretty sure umai is made up of raw fish with blended chili and a few other stuff in it (a taste of a more exotic side of sushi perhaps?)
Mee kolok: dry egg noodle with minced meat but the soup is something else, I can’t exactly pinpoint the taste into words, but yang penting, sedaplah.

There are a few controversial issues surrounding kolok mee, one being the usage of lard in it. Nowadays the delicacy evolves from what the Chinese usually eat in the kopitiams into something of a national, more diversed culinary creation, excluding the lard with the inclusion of halal ingredient.

7) Nasi kerabu Pasar Malam Selasa. Kak, kerisik kasik up skek! 😀

8) Sugarcane juice or the good ol’ air tebu. But after reading about various toxins found in the juice (cause the moist tips of the canes while left erected on the ground is like a welcoming hand to microbial infection), I’m not too sure anymore. 😦

9) Gorpis Kuala Perlis. Like, semestinya. A gorpis like no other.

10) Mee rebus Ramli kat Jelapang. Hoih, melampau kalu aku miss lagi tahun ni. Nngakk fair.

11) Seafood segala hidupan laut (tolak ikan duyung and batu karang je). Ketam cili, udang galah cili (lagi… stomach ulcer anyone?), siput sedut masak lemak, pari masak asam pedas, bawal halia, bla bla…

12) Kuih keria Mak Cik Mah. Dulu dua posen (zaman darjah 2). Sekarang dah tiga posen. Tapi takpe, pasal aku Mak Cik Mah bagi free. Tu yang tambah sedap tu.

13) Burger Ramli bebudak Belia 4B tepi simpang. Gamaknya nama Ramli ni memang sah bakal jadi tukang masak yang berjaya, dak gitu?

Err, I guess I better stop before I get too carried away and start salivating to death due to severe dehydration.
