Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha & C Novim Godam (that’s Happy New Year to you in Russian ;))

Eid-Mubarak & Happy 2007, everybody. I hope the extra day off during the weekend has done everybody good. I, on the other hand literally buried my nose in the Neurology book (that reads: vain attempt at studying or otherwise known as konon study tapi tido) during the New Year’s eve. Nothing much took place, didn’t feel like freezing any of my vital body parts by huddling outside in the cold, so we waited (or rather, I alone, since both of my lovely roommates fell asleep even before the clock struck 10) for the fireworks display indoor.

As I’ve previously described in my old blog, the New Year’s firework display here in Simferopol is no laughing matter. It was awesome, like always. I could boldly say this is among the few things that Simferopol managed to outwin KL. The fireworks were being lauched at almost more than 30 different locations around town. The sight of the sky that night was breathtaking; different sparks in the form of shooting stars, flowers, etc etc decorated the otherwise dark trophosphere.

Soooo. Shall I make the resolution list now?

6 things I look forward to in 2007. (Why 6? Cause my brain went blank after the 5th one).

  1. More sleep. I’m tired of entertaining my insomniac nature.
  2. Dun dun dunnn. Study more. *Right, please. No snickering, people. Be more supportive, yah?*
  3. Mesti amik driving license this summer. Mesti!
  4. Be more passionate about my surrounding.
  5. Grow! Of course, physically would be inane, but mentally and spiritually.
  6. Drop 2 kilos. Wahhahha.

What I’ve accomplished in 2006: Err… Err…

On a random note, my condolences to the victims’ family of the capsized ferry in Indonesia. And the latest news that came was another devastating catastrophe in the form of plane crash took place in Indonesia. I also extend my sympathy to the flood victims at the southern part of Malaysia, and those of Taiwanese earthquake. Seems like 2006 did not wrap up prettily to some of us.

Here is the lyrics to one of the most insightful Malay songs I was fortunate enough to run across.

Tik Tok Simpati

Artist: Ahli Fiqir

Di corong-corong radio layar kaca tv
Pancaran satelit parabola siarkan cerita
Salurkan berita bawakan derita sandiwara kisah nyata
Di dada akhbar rencana terkini
Menghiasi ruang muka warkah wadah warta wajah warga dunia
Nanah luka mereka
Gejolak resah kocak dunia
Siksa mereka kita saksinya
Bencana alam melanda tragedi dan petaka
Musibah menimpa kemelut negara dunia ketiga
Lapar dan dahaga panas dan dingin cuaca
Perang meragut jiwa angkara si mesiu peluru tak bermata
Dan kita hanya cuma membisik hiba hanya satu rasa

Tik tok tik tok tik tok tik
Sedetik simpati
Suis listrik pun dimati disitu simpati berhenti

Lain di mulut lain di hati
Cukupkah dengan rasa hiba setakat mudah hulur simpati
Hanyalah mampu cuma bersuara bisa lafaz kata
Pilu sayu hanya sementara
Timbul tenggelam pergi dan datang sekelip mata rasa itu hilang
Sekilas rasa seikhlas mana
Tiada guna apa ertinya

Tiada erti segala sinar pancar optik kaca silau lensa kamera

Berulang-ulang lagi tiada henti
Simpati kita semua hanyalah secubit rasa
Tidak mampu berdaya mematah peluru-peluru yang muntah
Dari picul-picul mulut-mulut senjata angkara kita
Simpati polan simpati anu simpati mu simpatiku
Simpati kita semua nilainya hanyalah sekadar secebis SAMPAH!
Airmata kita kering semula

Let us hope for a fresh beginning with a clean slate this year, and may 2007 bring prosperity and blessings to everybody around the world. Amin…

P/S: Selamat bertunang to my bradah, Bg Meir. I know sometimes you do stalk the blog. May you have your happy ending 🙂
